Rosses Point is a village in County Sligo that is home to the Sligo Yacht Club and the county’s golf club which hosts the West of Ireland championships annually. Rosses Point is the name of the village and the surrounding peninsula and offers some beautiful landscapes for coastal walks, and other outdoor activities.

An easy walk for all ages, the village can be covered on foot in less than hour, offering scenic landmarks and historical points all along the way. The walk begins at the Church of Ireland and talks you all along the promenade with beautiful mountains to your left and the old village on your right. Along the way you’ll see the ‘Lady waiting on the Shore’ which symbolises all of the women in Rosses Point who were left behind as their loved ones went out to sea.

You will also have the pleasure of seeing Elsinore House, home of the famous poet W.B Yeats and his talented artist brother Jack B Yeats. Rosses Point played host to many family holidays and the surrounding areas inspired some great works.

Other points to note are the Metal Man, a statue standing on the rocks, the Old Watch House built in 1810 and the Yeats Country Hotel.

From a refreshing walk to kiteboarding to a round of golf at Sligo’s Golf Culb, a trip out to Rosses Point provides a range of activities to suit anyone.
